Rux Cannady, Intensive In Home Therapist

I have worked in the public sector for over 35 years. I have worked with youth and their families as a Probation Officer and Special Placement Coordinator with the Juvenile Court in Richmond. I moved to Danville in 1982 to accept a position at Hughes Memorial Home, a residential facility for special needs adolescents and spent 19 years there. When that facility merged with the Presbyterian Home, I was named Campus Coordinator. I later managed a group home for adjudicated delinquents. Most recently I worked with adults and youth in the mental health sector.

My experience has taught me that all families have strengths, and given guidance and direction, improvements can be made. The earlier the intervention into a child’s life is made, the greater the chance for lasting effect.

I am married and have 3 sons. I enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. I am an avid sports enthusiast and have enjoyed coaching my sons’ recreational league teams. Together we developed a mutual interest in soccer and my youngest 2 sons and I became certified referees.
