December 20 2012 The Madeline Centre announced its yearly awards: Hana Narea was recognized as the Intensive In Home Counslor of the Year, Tony Davis was recognized as the Therapeutic Day Treatment Counslor of the Year, and Marie Padgett, was selected for the “Spirit of Madeline” award, which is awarded to the staff person who best represents the compassionate giving spirit of Madeline, our Director’s mother. Congratulations to all of these people and thanks to the incredible dedicated staff who worked so inspiringly all year long.
December 4, 2012 The Madeline Centre had its licensure review by the state and was credentialed to do Mental Health Supports and to become an outpatient program to work with our children with autism.
November 4, 2012 Our Director of Behavior and Autism Services, Cherie Arne, was approved as a Licensed Behavioral Analyst. Congratulations.
June 28, 2012 We are celebrating with our counselor Bonnie Mendenhall in recognizing her daughter’s accomplishment of Valedictorian of Dan River High School. Additionally, Tina Cruz, another counselor passed her comps!!!
June 5, 2012 The Madeline Centre in Danville opened its Day Treatment Program for children on the autism spectrum today. It was a great success and the newly decorated facility was a bright and welcoming environment for the 21 children. Under the leadership and hard work of Cherie Arnn, Director of Behavioral and Autism Services, this new program provides a variety of exciting and activities in arts, crafts, and music. Great thanks to all staff who helped Ms. Arnn including David Crews, Nicole Mink, Justin Berkley and the many others. It was a great team effort and everyone can be proud of the accomplishment.
May 8-10th 2012, Jon Winder, our Clinical Director, presented a 3 day forum in Nouakchott, Mauritania (western Africa) to 45 youth leaders of that nation for the Legacy International Program and the United States embassy. He did presentations on transitioning youth from high risk to resiliency, recent adolscent brain research, and project development. The training was well received and he adressed a graduating class of youth sports directors at the local training facility and toured a domestic violence program and a rehabilitation center for displaced children and children diverted from the juvenile justice program.
