The Madeline Centre is proud to offer a parent education group based on therapy developed by Bryan Post from the Post Institute in and Heather Forbes from Beyond Consequences.
This approach is built on achieving peace in the home and rebuilding the parent-child relationship based on love and understanding, not behavior modification and consequences. This new approach is finding success all over the country as parents adopt a new philosophy and understanding of parenting based on scientific research.
Some of the goals of the class are:
- Help families shift out or tension, anger, blame, frustration, and hopelessness into a place of understanding, compassion, peace, and love.
- Create strong home environments for children that are conducive to developing strong parent/child relationships.
- Empower parents to be the best parent for their children and live their lives with their children to the fullest.
- Give parents back the permission to simply love their children, instead of feeling compelled to consequent them and control them in order to “make” them obedient.
Topics include the stress model, love and fear, regulation and dysregulation, positive and negative conditioning, stress tolerance, trauma and memory, responsibility vs. reactivity, and dealing with lying, stealing, hoarding and gorging, aggression, and defiance.
